We also use PostHog for product analytics, to understand how people use deal search and to improve the website. When you search or act on a deal (for example "Get This Deal", "View source" or a vote), we send PostHog an event with the search radius, the food types you chose, how many deals were shown and which deal you picked. These events do not include the location you type or your coordinates. PostHog stores a random identifier in a first-party cookie and your browser's local storage so repeat visits can be told apart, and receives your IP address, the page address and browser details with each event.

PostHog may also record:

  • Session recordings: a replay of how you used a page (what was on screen, mouse movements, clicks, taps and scrolling), used to find confusing or broken parts of the site. Anything you type into a form field, such as the location box, is masked and not recorded, and the place suggestions shown under it are left out. Only some visits are recorded.
  • Heatmaps: where on a page people click and how far they scroll.
  • Clicks on parts of a page that do nothing, so we can find things that look clickable but aren't.
  • Page performance measurements, such as how long a page took to load.
  • Your answers, if you choose to answer a short survey shown on the site.

We also set a first-party cookie, fmcf_vid, containing a random identifier. It lets us count visits and searches in aggregate and limit deal voting to one vote per deal per visitor. It does not contain personal information, is not shared with third parties, and expires after one year.
